GoPro From Below: The K-36 Steam Engine!

GoPro From Below: The K-36 Steam Engine! | Train Fanatics Videos

GoPro’s have revolutionized how we view media in ways that many had not imagined. It has allowed for cinematography to move leaps and bounds in a small period of time, and allowed for more professional shots from the novice filmmaker!

This is a sight you could not get any other way!

Most importantly it has allowed for some pretty spectacular shots from railfans! This clip is an excellent example, one that allows you to feel the rush of an engine coming right at you, especially when that engine is part of the one and only Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad!

You can see the rails bending under the pressure of the engine!

This lucky railfan got the perfect shot, when C&T’s Historic narrow gauge engine #484 came around the bend barreling forward towards the camera! Its an amazing thing seeing a steamer at this angle, and you can almost feel it passing over you!

C&T’s #484:

  • Class K-36 Locomotive
  • 2-8-2 steam orientation
  • Built in 1925
  • Originally owned by Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad

Have you ever used a GoPro while railfanning? We’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
