Slow moving Union Pacific freights loaded with goods from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are being ransacked along the way out of town by opportunistic thieves.

The containers have easy locking systems that can be easily compromised. When the Union Pacific freights stop in this area to unload cargo at the UP package distribution facility, the thieves climb onto the containers and rifle through the boxes leaving trash and broken containers all over the place.

These containers are not owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Currently, Union Pacific is working with the owners to increase the security. Meanwhile, the thieves will continue their plunder, discarding items that are difficult to sell or too cheap to keep!
