The CB&Q 9911A and Nebraska Zephyr gleam in route to Chicago!

Clad in polished stainless steel, both the CB&Q 9911A locomotive and the Nebraska Zephyr passenger cars remind of us of the golden age of rail travel!

This special EMD E5 locomotive was produced exclusively for the Chicago, Burlington And Quincy Railroad (for the Burlington Route) in 1940 and 1941.

Recognizable by her sloping, slanted nose characteristic of the E5 models, they all had one stationary and one rotating headlight.

Maintenance of this locomotive and cars must require a lot of elbow grease and polish!

The EMD E5 locomotives produced totaled 11 A Units and 5 B units.

Locomotive characteristics include:

  1. Builder, General Motors Electro-Motive Division
  2. 2000 horse power
  3. build number 9911A known as the Silver Pilot
