Operation Life Saver test crash proves trains always win!

Union Pacific #2922 has no problem bouncing this school bus off the tracks. The test was to show the impact and destruction that happens when a 368,000 pound locomotive and a 20 -30,000 pound school bus get together…….no contest.

Notice how quickly the freight train comes to a stop after the impact. Total speed at impact must have been less than 20 miles per hour and still the bus was destroyed.

Grade crossings always pose a hazard even with signals flashing and gates down. In this case, there were no signals or crossing gates which is very common in many parts of the country. It is up to you to stop, look and listen!
