Union Pacific and BNSF put on a daily show at the Rochelle Railroad Park!

Rochelle Railroad Park is a city park located in Rochelle, Illinois and boasts to be the first railroad park in the country.

It is located at the intersection of the eastern quadrant of the diamond crossing of theUnion Pacific Railroad main line and theBNSF Railway main line. This location is one of the busiest in the nation for rail traffic.

In fact, so many railfans were showing up that it became necessary to build a safe viewing area complete with the following:

    • A live railroad scanner to monitor both BNSF and UP radio frequencies

    • Two ATCS monitors to show live views of the Geneva Sub
    • An elevated viewing platform with gazebo-style roof
    • A paved parking lot
    • Numerous picnic tables, public restrooms, vending machines
