Rare Victorian Railways Side By Side!

A dramatic side by side display of diesel and steam power!
This incredible clip shows the Victorian Railways R Class 711 moving next to their B -65 diesel in a great head on shot. Not only that, you get to see some great Australian scenery as well as the R-711 being pushed on a manual turntable at the end of her run!
The R 711 is a beautiful blue colored locomotive and tender. She is a Hudsontype with a 4-6-4 wheel arrangement. The locomotive and tender together weigh in at whopping 419,800 lbs! She was originally designed for only passenger service and was eventually retired from service.
R 711 is one of two locomotives remaining and is currently owned by the City of Greater Bendigo and carries the name “Spirit of Bendigo” on her side.
