How To Get Your 398,000 Pound Locomotive Back On The Track

How To Get Your 398,000 Pound Locomotive Back On The Track | Train Fanatics Videos

You need a really good railroad Carman and some wood blocks!

This is a really interesting video of just how important this job is. And dangerous! Narrated by a longtime retired Carman, it is a step by step guide should your own SD40-2 ever slip off the tracks.

Just make sure you have some wood blocks with you!

Watch as the Carman pounds and beats the block in the just the right spots to get the leverage needed to run the wheels back up on the rails. The engineer had to apply just the right amount of throttle at just the right time to make it work.

Carman duties include inspecting, rebuilding and repairing freight cars and just about anything else that needs fixing!
