The Viaduct La Polvorilla is one of the scariest bridges to traverse by train anywhere!

The Viaduct La Polvorilla bridge is located high in the Andes mountain range of South America. From a height of 209 feet, you get a dizzying passenger eye view of the canyon below. The bridge itself was built in 1930 and is a whopping 734 feet long and can withstand 1600 tons!

The “Train to the Clouds” is a tourist attraction that follows a route through the Andes Mountain Range connecting Argentina to Chile.

The “Cloud Train” reaches an overall height of 13,000 feet above sea level and it is not uncommon for passengers to get altitude sickness!

The train ride lasts 15 hours and has:

  1. 29 bridges
  2. 21 tunnels
  3. 2 spirals
  4. 2 zigzags
