Great footage of this classic Texas type steam locomotive at 1-1/2 scale!

The original Texas Type 2-10-4 locomotive had 10 drivers 69 inches in diameter and weighed a total of 502,600 lbs!

Many dedicated hours went into building this stunning replica of this Texas type steam engine. As part of the Los Angeles Live Steamers organization, she gets a workout in this video. Her original owner built this locomotive as an expense of $150,000!

Los Angeles Live Steamers was founded in 1956 as a non profit organization and is located near Griffith Park in the County of Los Angeles.

As you can see in the video, this locomotive is very powerful and can haul many passengers around the massive layout they have built. Rides are free, however, Los Angeles Live Steamers survives solely on donations by railfans who visit and ride the trains.

They operate 7 1/2″ gauge model trains of various sorts for the public to ride. They also have 4 3/4″ and 3 1/2″ gauge model trains as well.
