Thomas The Tank Engine Comes Alive!
Yes, Thomas is a real steam engine and would love to give you a ride!
Seen in this clip on an excursion through the edge of corn fields, you can imagine the delight in children’s eyes to see the eyes move back and forth as the train comes to the crossing!
Let’s face it, adults are big fans of Thomas the Tank Engine too!
The original Thomas engine was built to run on the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal which was a rail-marine terminal in Brooklyn, New York. The engine was eventually phased out by diesels and found a new home in 1999 with the Strasburg Rail Road which converted her into Thomas the Tank Engine!
Engine! has eyes that move, and a mouth that also moves in animation to prerecorded lines. Of course, Thomas’s patriotic color scheme of red, white and blue is the most recognizable of all!
