Old man river just keeps rolling along!

The Mississippi River is known to flood every now and then which causes havoc along her banks. This Canadian Pacific freight is faced with the aftermath of flooding on the Davenport Subdivision. #8021 gingerly works her way into 1000 feet of submerged track.

The track foreman and maintenance of way crews usually check the depth of any standing water to make sure the passage of train is safe. The water depth is generally considered safe at 18 inches or less.

After the engines are clear of the water, they are required to idle for a few minutes to dry out the traction motors before continuing on their journey.
