“Live steamer fanatics are everywhere!”

This is a great clip of English live steamers riding their beautiful colorful locomotives on a 3 foot elevated track.

Dressed in Caledonian blue, this replica of the Princess Marie Louise has plenty of power to pull her engineer.

Featured in the clip are replicas of the Princess Marie Louise, the Duchess of Sutherland and the Duchess of Carlisle.

The Princess Marie Louise locomotive is patterned off of LMS (London Midland and Scottish Railway) Princess Royal Class locomotives. The Duchess of Sutherland and City of Carlisle were part of the LMS Princess Coronation Class of locomotives.

All were Pacific style with 4-6-2 wheel arrangements. Some were “streamlined” with side plates at the front to give them a character of their own when painted.

They were originally built to haul the Royal Scot train between London Euston and Glasgow Central.
