H-8 Allegheny 2-6-6-6 Comes Back To Life

H-8 Allegheny 2-6-6-6 Comes Back To Life | Train Fanatics Videos

Great backyard railway displays the power that this 42 lb. replica H-8 Allegheny brings to bear on this long coal train!

This live steamer put the time and effort into this magnificent recreation of one of the most powerful reciprocating steam locomotives ever built!

Although the remaining two H-8 Allegheny Locomotives remain on static display in the Ford and Roanoke Transportation Museums, they are very much alive in the eyes of this live steamer.

The Aster Hobby Company modeled after this replica H-8 Allegheny 2-6-6-6 after number 1625.

This is a museum quality piece and works just like the real thing!

Since this clip was shot on a rainy day, there is even a little “wheel slip” here and there. Maybe some sand would help?

Built for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroads in beginning in 1941, the H-8 Allegheny’s served as primary coal haulers to bring coal from White Sulphur Springs, West Virgina, to Allegheny, Virgina.

The boiler in this model can run on coal or alcohol and is built to 1/32 scale on a gauge one track (45 mm or about 1.75 inches).

Please let us know if you are a “live steamer” or have experience with trains like this. We would love to hear your comments!
